Hello everyone! Like I said in my last post, this post is about NaNoWriMo, it is a day-by-day record I wrote as NaNoWriMo happened. Sorry this is a bit late in being uploaded. I had a few ups and downs throughout this journey, so let’s take a look…
Day 1
First day of NaNoWriMo, and 4th year in a row. Now I have a lot of stuff going on this month, so I admit to cheating at the start of the month, because I am starting off with around 5000 words already written. However, I know I won’t get much time to write this month due to the amount of college work I have. So, let’s get started and see what happens.
I didn’t write at all today, I was at college all day and I had homework to do on the night. Bit of a negative to the start of the month...

Day 2
Okay so it is day two, and I don’t have college today, and I don’t have much work to get done, so I am writing today. I did a few word sprints, where I set a timer on my phone for 20 minutes and wrote for 20 minutes straight, and I came up with some new ideas for the chapters I was writing, which I hadn’t previously thought of which was very interesting. In total today, I wrote 1,768 words.
Day 3 – Day 12
Unfortunately, I never wrote within these days, like I mentioned at the start November is going to be quite a busy month for me, and these few days happened to be quite busy and I never got the chance to sit down and write.
Day 13
Today was quite a strange one, first I decided that I wanted to change my idea. I decided to try and write a story on one of the secondary characters in my book. But then I came up with the idea of writing her story, and make her another main character to give my book a 3 POV. In total I wrote 1,061 words, which I am quite proud of considering I haven’t wrote in quite a few days. I managed to get these words written in three separate word sprints, writing between 200 and 300 words each time.
Day 14
At this point my story wasn’t making sense. I knew it needed to be wrote differently. I decided to open a new document and write what I already wrote, in third person point of view instead. Think of it like a mid-life crisis but with writing instead. I also decided to bring the focus back to the two original main characters. I ended this day, almost hitting 10,000 words. And it was the first time I managed to watch one of the write ins live hosted by NaNoWriMo
Day 15 & Day 16
I didn’t get a chance to write until very late on the 15th, in the early hours of the 16th I hit 10,000 words! And I had already reached the daily word count goal. I finished on 11,637
Day 17- Day 22
Again, these few days were very busy, I had work experience as part of my course which took up a lot of time, as it was a long way to travel. I also spent quite a bit of time just being with my family. So I just didn’t get to write.
Day 23
I finally got back to writing today, but I came to accepts that at this point I personally wouldn’t be able to reach 50,000 words, but I won’t give up. I have set myself the goal of reaching 15,000. Today I finished with 12,443 words.
Day 24
I didn’t write today, I was at college early and stayed until late, with it being a later time, I also got home quite late due to traffic and unfortunately didn’t get to write.
Day 25
Quite a few mixed emotions about today. I did write; however, it was only 25 words. So at least I wrote something. I did have a very busy day as I got to visit Edinburgh and go around the castle! It was magical.
Day 26
I didn’t write today as I was having a much needed catch up with my friend.
Day 27 – Day 29
I was busy with my college work these days and didn’t write. I was also starting to feel a bit unwell. So, I decided to rest.
Day 30
Today was the final day. I reached 13,005 words. I didn’t reach the NaNoWriMo wordcount goal, or my personal goal. However, I tried my best. I didn’t expect to do as well as I did considering how much stuff I had going on this month. And in the end, I had 13,000 more words than I would have done, had I not participated.
