There isn't really one specific reason why I started writing. It's always been something that interested me.
I suppose it all started when I was in year 2 (which would be grade 1 in America I think - 6/7 years old). We had to write our own story for homework. The teacher had given us this planning sheet and all we had to do was fill it in - resulting in our very own stories. So I guess that started it all off. After that, whenever we had to write a story in class I always got really exited and I loved it.
I was always reading when I was younger too, I'm still reading now. However, there was a period of time between when I was younger and now when I stopped reading - but that's another story for another time.
As the years passed and I finished primary school and started secondary school, I started getting serious about writing, I was writing most of the time, I finished my first story - which when I look back at it and read it, I find that it wasn't all that good . However, I can see that 4 years after writing that first story my writing had improved drastically. For which I am glad.
Now, I continue to write because it's something I need to do. Something I have to do. It's more than doing something I enjoy, writing is a part of me, just like reading is a part of me, and it's something I must do for as long as I have a story inside of me, waiting to be told.
So, that's the story of why I started writing and why I continue to write.
Is there something that you have to do? Is there something that is a part of you? If you write, why did you start writing? If you want to answer these questions comment below or contact me.
